Muskmelon is cultivated in 6,883 hectares in our state and yields approximately 2,06,490 tonnes.  It grows well in high temperature areas (up to 32 ° C) and 23-27 C is also suitable.  Mostly cultivated in river sand dunes.  Its yield is 4-5 t.  / Acre.  Let us now look at the prevention of pests and insects in this crop.

Insects

 Pumpkin bettele:-

They eat leaves and flowers and cause damage.  Profenofas 2 ml for prevention.  Or Malathion 2 ml.  Spray with a liter of water.

  Stinging leafhopper:-

Caterpillars bite the leaves during crop growth and germination.  To prevent this, add chlorpyrifos 2.0 ml.  Or quinol phos 2 ml.  Or thiodicarb 1 g.  Add a liter of water and spray in the pre-flowering stage.

Fruit fly: -

In the flowering stage, mother flies lay their eggs on the flowers.  These get into the coating and eat and damage the fruits

Prevention:

Malathion 2 ml in the coating and pressing stage.  Spray with a liter of water.  100 ml.  Malathion + 100 g.  Dilute sugarcane or jaggery in a liter of water, pour it into the soil and spread the poisonous bait all over the field.  Two fruit beetles per acre should be kept in attractive baskets and the plant should be protected depending on the aphid infestation.

  Diseases: -

  Powdery mildew: -

At first the leaf spot on the leaves looks like a mosaic with dark spots, then yellow spots on the upper part of the leaves, purple spots on the underside and mildew.

Prevention: -

Mancozeb 2.5 g.  Or Metalaxyl M.Z 2g.  Spray with a liter of water.

 Gray rot: -

White or gray small spots form on the leaves followed by a white powdery substance.  This rot is more prevalent on leaves that are about 20 days old rather than pale leaves.  Prevention: -

1 ml.  Tredimorph or 1 ml.  Dinocap should be sprayed with one liter of water.

Fusarium dry rot:-

Also known as dry rot.  Pest-infected vines wither and suddenly dry up.  For prevention Bordeaux mixture 1% or 3 g, Copper oxychloride per liter of water should be applied 2-3 times in ten days to moisten the soil around the plant start.  Trichoderma viridis culture should be developed in cattle manure and applied to the bushes in the ground.

 Cucumber mosaic :-

The leaves are thickly striped between the stems, brittle, stunted and stunted.

Prevention: -

Apply 2 ml to control the aphid infestation.  Dimethoate or 2 ml.  Methyl dematon should be sprayed with one liter of water.

Anthracnose: -

Round bird eye shaped spots on leaves and fruits

 Prevention: -

 Oxychloride or Carbendazim 1 g.  Or carbendazim + mancozeb 2 g.  Spray 2 times for 10 days OM 10 R D ni NI 5

 Comprehensive Plant Protection Measures:-

   1. Dig deep during summer.

   2. Transplanting sorghum with maize can prevent Fusarium dry rot from spreading through the soil.

   3. Virus pests can be prevented if a protective crop (sorghum, sorghum, sajja) is planted in 4 rows around the crop.

   4. 100 g.  Trichoderma viridis 2 g per seed.  Seed should be cleaned at regular intervals.

5.Carbosulfan 3 g should be applied as there is a possibility of viral pests where there are nematodes.  Seed treatment should be done with one kg of seed.

   6. The use of 'Arka Rajahans' type can prevent gray rot to some extent.

   7. Apply 10 yellow glue sticks per acre to attract aphids and whiteflies so that virus pests can be prevented.

   8. Spray 6% neem seed infusion over a period of 15 days from the growth stage until coating.
